He obtained his degree in Biology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and his PhD in collaboration with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. He carried out postdoctoral research at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) in Cambridge before joining the University of Crete in 2008. His research focuses on bioinformatics approaches for biomedical text mining, omics data analysis, protein\u2013protein interaction prediction, and evolutionary biology.
