He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Crete and completed postgraduate and doctoral studies in Ophthalmology, receiving a research scholarship from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI). He holds the European Board of Ophthalmology Diploma (FEBO) and completed a glaucoma fellowship at AHEPA University Hospital. He ranked first in the Greek national examinations for ophthalmology residents and was awarded a scholarship by the Hellenic Ophthalmological Society to attend the &#8220;Lancaster Course in Ophthalmology&#8221; at Harvard Medical School. He also received further training at internationally recognised centres, including Moorfields Eye Hospital and Queen&#8217;s University Belfast.
