{"id":27348,"date":"2026-08-25T11:27:41","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T11:27:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mscs.uoc.gr\/bme-crete\/?post_type=personnel&#038;p=27348"},"modified":"2026-08-25T11:27:44","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T11:27:44","slug":"efstathios-detorakis","status":"publish","type":"personnel","link":"https:\/\/mscs.uoc.gr\/bme-crete\/personnel\/efstathios-detorakis\/","title":{"rendered":"Efstathios Detorakis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Efstathios Detorakis\u00a0is a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in thoracic, cardiac, and oncologic imaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He obtained his medical degree from the State University of Milan, Italy, in 2002 and completed his residency in Radiology at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete, Greece, in 2011. In the same year, he was awarded a scholarship by the European School of Radiology (ESOR), which enabled him to undertake advanced training in cardiac imaging at Lariboisi\u00e8re Hospital, Paris, France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 2011 to 2019, Dr. Detorakis worked in the private sector, specializing in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In 2017, he was awarded a PhD from the University of Crete for his research in thoracic imaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the past five years, he has been serving as a Consultant Radiologist at the University Hospital of Heraklion, where his clinical practice focuses on thoracic, cardiac, and oncologic imaging using CT and MRI. Since 2021, he has also been a lecturer at the University of Crete School of Medicine, teaching cardiothoracic imaging as part of the undergraduate Radiology curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Detorakis is actively involved in research and medical education.
