{"id":479,"date":"2026-06-26T10:14:40","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T07:14:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mscs.uoc.gr\/cardio\/?p=479"},"modified":"2026-06-26T10:14:42","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T07:14:42","slug":"advancing-precision-medicine-through-cardio-hematology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mscs.uoc.gr\/cardio\/2026\/06\/26\/advancing-precision-medicine-through-cardio-hematology\/","title":{"rendered":"Advancing Precision Medicine Through Cardio-Hematology"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are proud to announce the launch of <strong>Greece&#8217;s first Clonal Hematopoiesis Cardio-Hematology Outpatient Clinic<\/strong> at the University General Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI), a pioneering initiative established through the collaboration between the Departments of Hematology and Cardiology of the University of Crete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This specialized clinic reflects the growing recognition of <strong>clonal hematopoiesis<\/strong> as an independent cardiovascular risk factor and represents a significant milestone in the integration of hematological and cardiovascular care. Similar multidisciplinary clinics currently operate only in leading academic medical centers across Europe and the United States, highlighting the importance and innovation of this initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Clinic is led by <strong>Professor Eleni Papadaki (Hematology)<\/strong> and <strong>Professor Maria Marketou (Cardiology)<\/strong>, in collaboration with <strong>Consultant Cardiologist Maro Stratinaki<\/strong> from Venizeleio General Hospital. Together with an outstanding multidisciplinary team, they aim to provide comprehensive cardiovascular assessment, personalized prevention strategies, and evidence-based management for individuals with clonal hematopoiesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Director of the MSc Programme <em>&#8220;Exercise and Exercise-Based Cardiac Rehabilitation in Patients with Cardiac Diseases&#8221;<\/em>, Professor Mary Marketou continues to promote innovative clinical practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and translational research that bridge cardiovascular medicine with other medical specialties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We warmly congratulate Professors Eleni Papadaki and Maria Marketou, Dr. Maro Stratinaki, and all members of the multidisciplinary team whose dedication and vision made this landmark achievement possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also gratefully acknowledge the support of the European Hematology Association (EHA), whose research grant has been instrumental in the establishment and development of this initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This milestone reinforces the University of Crete&#8217;s commitment to advancing precision medicine, cardiovascular prevention, and patient-centered multidisciplinary care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are proud to announce the launch of Greece&#8217;s first Clonal Hematopoiesis Cardio-Hematology Outpatient Clinic at the University General Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI), a pioneering initiative established through the collaboration between the Departments of Hematology and Cardiology of the University of Crete.
