In order to achieve this goal, the Department has organised and will update the Curriculum in order to achieve learning outcomes and qualifications that are in line with the European and National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education level 7. It uses all modern teaching methods and practices and frequently trains its teaching staff in pedagogical issues through the `Training of Trainers' activities of the University of Crete. Cutting-edge research carried out in the Department in the research areas of the Master's programme informs the curriculum and guides the educational process. The latter plays a particular role in the preparation of the Thesis. For this reason, the Steering Committee of the MSc pays special attention to the integration of postgraduate students into the appropriate research groups of the Department and offers special support and guidance in this process. The courses of the MSc are evaluated at regular intervals (every semester) by the students, in collaboration with the Department's Quality Assurance Committee (OMEA) and the University's Quality Assurance Unit (\u039c\u039f\u0394\u0399\u03a0), ensuring that the MSc Steering Committee and the Department have continuous access to the students' perspective on the curriculum and the need for pottential changes. The assessment is conducted at a random time, unknown to the instructor during the 7th, 8th and 9th week of the courses. The results of the evaluation are carefully reviewed by the MSc Director and the Steering Committee, and necessary recommendations or changes are made where necessary.<\/p>

The Department of Biology also encourages continuous training of all its staff via online courses and seminars in new technologies (e.g. using the\u00a0\u00a0Mathesis<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0online course environment).
