The Postgraduate Studies Programme (PSP) of the Department of Materials Science and Technology (DMST) of the University of Crete has been in operation since the academic year 2003-2004. The scope of the Postgraduate Studies Programme is Materials Science and Technology.
The purpose of the Programme is the creation of human resources in Greece, in the rapidly-developing interdisciplinary field of materials science and technology, which is one of major importance to modern society. The aim of the Programme is to provide students with postgraduate education and/or specialization in a field of the Department of Materials Science and Technology, leading to the award of a Postgraduate Specialization Degree (MSc), with the ultimate aim of creating career prospects (in public and private organisations and companies, as well as research bodies). A parallel aim of the Postgraduate Studies Programme is to train research scientists and award Doctoral Degrees, providing the necessary skills for employment in the promotion of materials research and technology, as well as in teaching and research at Universities, Technological Educational Institutes and Research Centres.
