Short bio

George graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens School of Health Sciences in 1987. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete in 1995 and he also completed his Phd at the University of Crete on the same year. He continued his training in several international orthopedics centers (University of Aarhus, Denmark, University of Zurich,
Swiss, University of Nice, France, University of Texas at Galveston, University of Leeds, UK) and specialised in Orthopaedic Surgery of the spine at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. He is a Professor in Orthopedics Surgery at the University of Crete and director of the Laboratory of Orthopaedic Research as well as the Orthopaedic Clinic at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete. He authored multiple international publications and book chapters. He was Dean of Medicine from 2014 to 2020 and currently Rector at the University of Crete.
