Chemistry Department

The Chemistry Department of the University of Crete as well as the collaborating Departments of Hellenic Mediterranean University have the appropriate logistical infrastructure for the implementation of the Program. The Department of Chemistry has the Environmental Chemical Processes Laboratory (ECPL) that is well equipped, with modern research laboratories and analytical instruments to perform innovative research, as well as the Environmental monitoring Station at Finokalia in Lasithi, a certified member of international atmospheric measurement networks EMEP, ACTRIS, GAW, ICOS through which the laboratory and the research work of graduate students is supported.

Other Facilities

In addition, the MSc students have access to 

  1. the Library of the University of Crete 
  2. the scientific instruments of the Department of Chemistry and 
  3. the major scientific instruments of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Crete 
  4. Computing facilities (cluster blade technology) of ECPL at the Department of Chemistry and the Computing Center of the University of Crete
  5. the Environmental monitoring and research station of ECPL of the University of Crete at Finokalia Lasithi.
  6. The laboratory facilities of the collaborators at the School of Agricultural Sciences and School of Engineering of the Hellenic Mediterranean University.

Who can apply?

The program is addressed to graduates of Faculties of Sciences and Technology, Faculties of Engineering, Schools of Agriculture, and other Faculties of related subjects of Higher Education Institutions.

What is the methodology used?

The training curriculum consists of a number of specialized lectures on the above mentioned topics, laboratory and field work, hands-on exercises on data analysis and numerical modeling.

Is the programme full time?

Yes, and it lasts 4 semesters

What is the cost of the programme?

The programme is free.

Is the programme taught in English?

The courses are taught in Greek or English depending on the audience. The Master thesis can be written in Greek or English after approval from the overseen committee.
