Short bio

Garyfalia Ampanozi, PD, MD, MSc, FRCPath is a board-certified forensic pathologist from Greece. Medical studies were completed in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She was trained in general pathology from 2003 to 2004 at the General Hospital of Kavala and from 2005 to 2007 in forensic pathology at the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has a Master of Sciences in “Medical Research Methodology”. She is a team member of the Virtopsy group since 2009, initially at the University of Bern and since 2011 at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. Garyfalia Ampanozi holds a Habilitation in Forensic Medicine and lectures at the University of Zurich. Garyfalia Ampanozi is an author of >100 scientific papers and 5 book chapters in the field of forensic imaging.  She supervises doctoral and master students and gives talks on her area of expertise. Her main scientific interest is the pathological-radiological correlation of forensic findings. She is founder member of the International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging and Member of the Editorial Board of the Forensic Imaging Journal of the society. She serves as a reviewer in various Forensic and Radiological Journals.
