George Tzagkarakis received the PhD and MSc degrees (1st in class, Highest Honors) from the Computer Science Department at the University of Crete (UOC), Greece, in 2009 and 2004, respectively, and the BSc degree in Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics, University of Crete, in 2002 (1st in class, Highest Honors). A number of academic distinctions have been awarded to him both as an undergraduate and a post-graduate student from UOC, the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), as well as from external state foundations. Is a Principal Researcherin Signal Processing Laboratory (SPL) at FORTH-ICSsince May 2018. Since 2000, he has been collaborating with the Wave Propagation Group of the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics (IACM) of FORTH, while in the period 2002-2010 he was affiliated as a research assistant in the Telecommunications and Networks Lab at FORTH-ICS.Between November 2010 and November 2012 he joined CEA/Saclay as a Marie Curie post-doctoral researcher in the Cosmology and Statistics Laboratory, working on the design and implementation of compressive sensing algorithms for remote imaging in areal and terrestrial surveillance systems. In 2012, he got a research position in EONOS Investment Technologies, where he now serves as the company’s Scientific Director being responsible for developing and managing scientific research projects strategically aligned with the state-of-the-art in quantitative analysis, econometrics, and computational finance using advanced signal and data processing methodologies. His main expertise and research interests lie in the fields of statistical signal and image processing.
