Georgios Z. Papadakis is a Nuclear Medicine physician, who is currently holding an adjunct lecturer position in the Department of Radiology at the School of Medicine in the University of Crete and a Research Associate Position at the Advanced Hybrid Imaging Systems Unit of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) at the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH). Dr Papadakis worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Radiology & Imaging Sciences Department of the Clinical Center (CC), at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda (Maryland, USA) and has established ongoing collaborations with the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), in USA. His main research activities broadly lie on the clinical and pre-clinical applications of positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, applications of modern hybrid imaging modalities (PET/CT & PET/MRI), and computational biomedical applications, with emphasis on neuroendocrine tumors, multi-system endocrinopathies, cardiovascular applications, rare bone diseases and neuroinflammation. He is author or co-author in more than 80 scientific papers published in peer-review journals indexed in Index Medicus and PubMed, which have received more than 1160 citations (source: Google Scholar, Dec 2020, h-index:16). Of note his very recent publication (Oct. 2020) in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), which is recognized as the world’s leading medical journal. In addition he is the author or co-author in more than 60 scientific presentations in top international Radiology and Nuclear Medicine meetings such as the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America), the SNMMI (Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging), the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and the EANM (European Association of Nuclear Medicine). He is member in the Editorial Board of the following international Journals indexed in pubmed or google scholar: Annals of Gastroenterology, Toxicology Reports, Oncology Letters, and the Hellenic Journal of Radiology.
