Ioannis Iliopoulos

Ioannis Iliopoulos is a Professor of Molecular Biology – Bioinformatics at the School of Medicine, University of Crete. He obtained his degree in Biology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and his PhD in collaboration with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. He carried out postdoctoral research at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) in Cambridge before joining the University of Crete in 2008. His research focuses on bioinformatics approaches for biomedical text mining, omics data analysis, protein–protein interaction prediction, and evolutionary biology. He has authored more than 70 publications, including high-impact articles such as Nature, and his work contributes to the development of databases and computational tools for biomedical research.
